Gwen Walsh—
Sex Educator, Tarot Reader, Sexuality & Spirituality Consultant
About Me
My name is Gwen, and I’m a sex educator, tarot reader, and sexuality & spirituality consultant based in New York City.
I graduated from the University of Southern Maine with a B.A. in Women’s Studies and a minor in Holistic and Integrative Health. Currently, I am a Masters student in Clinical Psychology, a Sexual and Reproductive Health Education research assistant, and a Human Sexuality course assistant at Columbia University.
My work centers on the intersections of sexuality, spirituality, and psychology, integrated with other disciplines like philosophy, poetry, and neuroscience. Coming from an interdisciplinary academic background, I believe in the convergence of multiple fields to co-create a nuanced understanding of the human experience. Currently, I work with individuals (through tarot readings, coaching, and educational consulting), groups (through live and prerecorded classes and courses), and brands like Durex and K-Y (through professional consulting).
My ethics are grounded in accurate, inclusive, and judgment-free information for all. I believe everyone deserves to have the resources and information to understand and embrace their sexual and spiritual identities.
Read below for more info on my style, my story, and how we can connect further.
My Style:
Approachable: From my training as a pleasure-positive and kink-affirming sex educator, I cultivate a non-judgmental and safer space in group and private sessions. I frame all aspects of education with curiosity and openness, encouraging folks of all identities to deconstruct societal standards and personalize their pleasure.
Authentic: In my educational services, I embrace skepticism and belief, empirical evidence and personal experience, and I help my clients to see the value in each. I will always provide you with options to help you problem-solve. Your autonomy is my priority.
Academic: While my subject matter is undoubtedly “woo-woo,” my approach is grounded in academia and research. I love the intuitive and fluid nature of sexuality and spirituality, and I also love the clinically proven benefits of connecting with those aspects of ourselves. I am always learning, and I want to provide that same educational excitement and value to my community.
My Story:
I was raised Roman Catholic and went to Catholic school for the formative years of middle school. Sex was not to be discussed, and the patriarchal spirituality I was raised with was not to be questioned.
In college, I pursued a degree in Women’s and Gender Studies, interned at Planned Parenthood, and got a job as a sex educator at a woman-owned sexuality boutique called Nomia. Exposure to feminist scholarship, sexual and reproductive healthcare, and sex-positive education motivated me to pursue a career as a sexuality professional. Simultaneously, I sought out a feminist-informed spirituality and found paganism. I now run a full-time business as a sexuality & spirituality professional, while attending graduate school to expand my career into research, teaching, and clinical work.
Reclaiming both sexuality and spirituality on my own terms gave me a sense of passion and purpose I had never felt before— and I am eager to share that same sense of transformation with you.
